巨人隊總教練Bruce Bochy宣布國聯分區系列賽第2戰先發投手，並不是王牌投手Madison Bumgarner，而是「鯊魚」Jeff Samardzija，他要對決老東家小熊隊。

國聯外卡資格賽，Bumgarner一夫當關，完封9局，但是為了讓他休養，巨人隊改由第3戰再推出他先發。

巨人隊不愧是老經驗的球隊，連第4戰要推誰都想好了，左投Matt Moore已經準備好了。

「我不去特別猜測總教練的決定，他總是神機妙算，我只要帶著信心，並且避免讓他失望。」Samardzija說。

不過雙數年的巨人隊的確在季後賽令人畏懼，即便是今年超過百勝的小熊隊也不好打。



Samardzija2006年被小熊隊選中，2014年短期轉戰運動家又回小熊，去年待在白襪，本季他12勝11敗，防禦率3.81。

他說：「小熊隊現在有很多年輕人，都是在我之前沒看過的，這是季後賽，不管你為誰打，你必須要有好的團隊，好的先發陣容，還有好的牛棚。」
